Three Finger Jack
Rustic Wine Photoshoot at a PNW Cabin
Brand Overview
Three Finger Jack is a California-based wine brand known for its bold and flavorful wines, inspired by the legendary outlaw who roamed the Sierra foothills during the Gold Rush era. Their brand is rustic and outdoorsy.
Project Objective
To create a series of images that evoke a sense of adventure and friendship for a summer campaign for Three Finger Jack Wines. The objective was to showcase the wine in a rustic Pacific Northwest setting, featuring scenes of friends enjoying a summer evening around a campfire. This included incorporating elements like a cabin in the background, s'mores, cozy blankets, and scenic backdrops.
Production Challenges
Finding a suitable location that authentically captured the essence of the Pacific Northwest while providing the necessary amenities for the shoot proved to be a significant challenge. The search for a location with a firepit, scenic backdrop, and a suitable atmosphere for the desired ambiance required extensive research and careful consideration.
Additionally, shooting outdoors from late afternoon with lots of sun reflecting off of the river to the fading light of the evening in the woods presented challenges with maintaining consistent exposure and capturing the desired mood.
Creative Process
After doing a lot of research, I selected a cute A-frame cabin in the Skykomish area that offered a firepit, and nearby river in addition to a charming cabin backdrop. I booked the cabin and we packed all the necessary props and products out for an evening in nature!
To overcome the lighting challenges, by the river I looked for open shade and then once we started to lose light in the woods I worked quickly, adjusting my ISO settings to accommodate the dim lighting of the evening, and embraced the ambiance that dusk brought to the shoot while ensuring that the wine remained the central focus of each image.
"These look great! You really nailed the brief."
