Coppola Wines

Creative Product Styling for Elegant Wine Brand

Brand Overview

Francis Ford Coppola Winery crafts award-winning wines in California. This project specifically featured wines from their Diamond Collection, including the Chardonnay and Claret varieties. Their website states that, “Diamond Collection wines are made from grapes grown across California and are carefully combined to create wines perfect for all occasions – including those special just because ones.”

Project Objective

The objective for this project was to create bright, clean, and elevated shots of wine gifting, keeping the wine bottle and gift wrapping as the primary focus, with backgrounds and props blurred in the background and foreground. The brand requested for the styling to avoid seasonal cues and to keep it neutral using wrapping items such as brown paper, ribbon, and non-seasonal greenery and florals.

Production Challenges

This shoot presented unique styling challenges since the brand was fairly specific about the gift-wrapping style they wanted. I had to learn a specific wrapping technique and create a variety of gift-wrapping styles while avoiding any seasonal cues. Maintaining clean backgrounds while providing visual variety with only two wine products also required creative solutions.

Creative Process

To overcome these challenges and achieve the project objectives, my creative process focused mostly on product styling. I purchased a variety of greenery and floral props to use as well as some brown paper. I learned the specific fanned-out folded paper wrapping technique recommended by the brand through online tutorials. I used a mix of Replica Surfaces and my lifestyle studio to style these images in a clean, simple way that highlighted the unique gift wrapping and the wine bottles.

These are great, thank you!
