Spring Product Imagery for Brewcursion
Lifestyle Adventure Photography for Craft Beer & Beverage Brands
Brand Overview
Brewcursion is an innovative brand built for the intersection of craft beer culture and rugged outdoor exploration. Their flagship product—a specialized keg cooler—allows homebrewers and adventure seekers to tap and keep a keg cold in even the most adventurous environments. Brewcursion is dedicated to simplifying the "in the wild" experience, making it possible to share high-quality, fresh beer wherever the trail leads.
Project Objective
Building on our previous winter collaboration, the goal for this spring photoshoot was to expand the Brewcursion visual library with a fresh, seasonal perspective. Having already captured the cooler in an evergreen forest, I shifted the focus to a riverside setting surrounded by freshly leafed-out deciduous trees. The objective remained consistent—to capture the keg cooler in its natural element on a scenic adventure—but with a visual shift that reflected the transition into the spring season and warmer weather.
Production Challenges
The primary challenge for this photoshoot, much like the first, involved finding a location that balanced accessibility with discretion. Because a keg cooler loaded with ice is exceptionally heavy, I needed a spot close to parking, yet secluded enough that bringing a keg into a public space wouldn't draw unwanted attention. Furthermore, coordinating models within the brand’s target demographic of millenial men who aren't tied to a traditional 9-to-5 schedule is a common obstacle for mid-week lifestyle shoots. Finally, there was the technical aspect of the product itself. It is certainly a unique skill to add to my professional toolkit, but mastering the mechanics of tapping a keg properly allowed me to lead the shoot with confidence and ensure every shot had the perfect pour.
Creative Process
My strategy for navigating these hurdles involved a deep dive into location scouting around the Tacoma area. I eventually discovered the Riverside Disc Golf course in Sumner, which offered the perfect "off-the-beaten-path" atmosphere. It provided the lush, spring greenery I was looking for while being much less crowded than a traditional city park, allowing us to shoot freely near the river. To solve the talent dilemma, I recruited my brother, who was available during his spring break from teaching, along with a friend who worked an alternative schedule. And with the help of my client, I was able to troubleshoot some snags I’d had with the keg during my first shoot so that every pour was perfect this time around. By combining strategic scouting with creative casting and hands-on technical preparation, I was able to deliver a high-energy gallery that perfectly showcases the product's rugged, adventurous spirit.
“Thanks, Effie. Very happy.”
