Brand Overview

Founded by award-winning spa owner Megan Douglas, Pyürest is a luxury, female-founded body care line rooted in the Pacific Northwest. With over 20 years of expertise at Serenity Spa (serving Tacoma, University Place, and Gig Harbor), Megan created Pyürest to bridge the gap between professional treatments and at-home rituals. Every handcrafted formula—from mineral-rich clays to therapeutic oils—is designed to restore balance and provide a sense of peace, serenity, and tranquility. The brand’s mission is to empower people to unplug and reenergize, making the world a better place one self-care ritual at a time.

Project Objective

The primary goal of this shoot was to equip Pyürest with a comprehensive library of professional assets to facilitate their transition from a local favorite to a nationally recognized brand. With an upcoming website launch and plans to scale into trade shows, the objective was to provide versatile imagery that supports their marketing materials, social media, and e-commerce platforms.

Production Challenges

I faced the unique challenge of recreating the look and feel of an upscale, high-end bathroom within a studio environment that lacked one. Because Pyürest is centered on the "spa at home" experience, it was essential to produce imagery that felt authentic to a luxury wellness space without access to a real space that aligned with the branding. This required a strategic approach to set design to ensure the final gallery felt like a serene, real-life sanctuary rather than a staged studio set.

Creative Process

I leaned heavily into high-quality replica surfaces, utilizing warm marble and tile textures to ground the products in a sophisticated, spa-like environment. I styled these scenes with an intentional selection of upscale, minimalist props, incorporating dried grasses, fresh greenery, and simple florals in minimalist vases to breathe life into each shot. To add further depth and highlight the raw, handcrafted nature of the products, I included natural ingredients like coffee beans and fresh citrus where they complemented the specific formulas. By layering neutral-colored linens to soften the overall aesthetic, I achieved the minimalist, peaceful look the brand requested. This shoot was particularly rewarding to style, as the feminine aesthetic aligned perfectly with my own creative preferences.
