Samsonite Doorbusters

Lifestyle Product Photography for Fashionable Travel Brand

Brand Overview

Samsonite is a global leader in the travel industry, known for combining durability with sophisticated design. While the brand is a staple for professional travelers, their Doorbusters line targets a specific demographic: fashionable women between 20 and 45 who prioritize quality and value. This side of the brand identity is centered on an elevated casual look that is classic rather than trendy, offering versatile solutions for both business and daily life, with the goal of providing high-quality gear that supports a fast-paced lifestyle without compromising on style.

Project Objective

The goal for this project was to create a library of candid, in-situ imagery to support Samsonite's Doorbusters line. The aim was to produce visuals that resonate with a female audience looking for versatile pieces that transition seamlessly from a professional commute to a weekend getaway. The brief required directing scenes that showcased the product in various real-world contextsβ€”packing at home, navigating city streets, and packing the bags into a car. By creating a mix of wide environmental shots and detailed close-ups that highlighted bag features and interiors, I provided the brand with a comprehensive set of assets designed to drive engagement among fashionable customers.

Production Challenges

Managing a diverse set of locations within a single production day required some logistical planning. The project called for a mix of packing scenes and active city street shots, which meant navigating different lighting and environments while transporting a quite a few luggage pieces. Sourcing models who authentically represented the brand's target demographic also added a layer of complexity to the planning process. Furthermore, moving multiple pieces of product through a busy downtown area presented a physical challenge, as I needed to keep the inventory organized and protected while transitioning between several setups.

Creative Process

I addressed these variables by recruiting a few friends who perfectly matched the brand’s elevated casual aesthetic. We began the shoot at my home to create the packing scenes required by the brief. From there, we transitioned to a downtown area to capture the urban, on-the-go lifestyle imagery. To manage the high volume of luggage and gear, I utilized a utility wagon to transport everything between locations. This allowed us to stay mobile and efficient, hitting several distinct street settings within walking distance of each other. By combining a familiar home environment with strategic city scouting, I was able to direct a series of high-energy, candid moments that authentically showcase the versatility of the collection.
