Brand Overview
Mae Botanicals is a small business founded by Dr. Kari, a Naturopathic Doctor, Herbalist, and Gardener. Dr. Kari cultivates her own herbs and plants, using them to create small-batch, natural skincare products.
Project Objective
To create a range of high-quality images showcasing Mae Botanicals' skincare products. The objective was to capture individual product shots, group shots, and banner images for her website, all while emphasizing the brand's connection to nature.
Production Challenges
Every project has its challenges of creating visually on-brand images while also creating variety for the client’s usage. This project felt like it came more naturally to me (no pun intended!) as the product was easy to work with and the natural elements were beautiful, adding pops of color throughout these bright scenes. Dr. Kari was also prepared with lots of her own props which made this an easy shoot to execute.
Creative Process
To achieve the desired aesthetic, I utilized my lighter Replica Surfaces and maximized on the natural light in my studio by shooting close to the windows. I incorporated Dr. Kari's freshly cut flowers and plants into the compositions, along with natural props such as wooden trays and copper accents, which echoed the copper still used in the production process. This approach resulted in a collection of images that effectively communicated the brand's connection to nature to be used across multiple different platforms.
