Lifestyle Commercial Product Photography for Decorative Home Accessories
Brand Overview
Favorite Story Co. is a charming paperie and gift shop based in California. The owner and designer creates a lovely collection of products ranging from planners and office accessories to recipe cards and tea towels. The brand aesthetic is decidedly feminine and cute, offering customers thoughtfully designed products that infuse everyday routines with charm and sweetness. This focus on functional beauty and whimsical design allows the brand to connect with customers who appreciate personalized, aesthetically pleasing elements in their home and office spaces.
Project Objective
The objective of this project was to create a comprehensive set of lifestyle imagery featuring a variety of Favorite Story Co.'s products. The shoot focused primarily on home goods, including tea towels, recipe cards, and candles, but also incorporated some office accessories like aesthetic thumb tacks and notebooks. The final imagery was intended for use across the brand's primary digital sales platforms, specifically their website and Etsy listings, with the goal of showcasing the products in real-life settings.
Production Challenges
While the inherent charm and aesthetic of Favorite Story Co.'s products naturally lend themselves to effortless styling, the primary challenge of this project involved navigating the diverse product range. A shoot that featured items spanning soft home goods (like tea towels) to solid accessories (like thumb tacks) required frequent shifts in setup, including changing scenes and utilizing different prop sets.
Creative Process
As always, careful pre-planning was essential to ensure that the shoot flowed smoothly. Prop planning was a significant part of making this shoot come to life and visually connecting the products to their function. For instance, I paired olives with the olive-themed towel, and a cocktail with the cocktail towel. To further contextualize the products, I sourced a recipe box for the recipe cards and used a cute corkboard with aesthetic items to showcase the thumb tacks in use. I approached the project by focusing on consistency, bringing each unique product to life through imagery that felt both cohesive with the overall feminine brand aesthetic and distinct enough to highlight the individual item's purpose.
"Effie, you've done it again! I love it all. I think the tea towel shots in the kitchen especially turned out nice. And you had such thoughtful propping throughout …It all looks so nice. Thank you so much!"
