Lifestyle Food Photography with PNW Adventure Vibes

Brand Overview

Mountain Fresh, a grab-and-go snack brand owned by Harbor Wholesale, provides convenient and delicious options for those seeking fuel for their adventures. Their products are designed to support an active lifestyle with fresh, quality ingredients.

Project Objective

The goal of this shoot was to create brand imagery to showcase Mountain Fresh's refreshed packaging. The project required a comprehensive set of images, including styling every product on a kitchen counter setting and styling select items in a natural, outdoor setting to emphasize the brand's connection to adventure.

Production Challenges

This was a large-scale shoot (close to 100 images), presenting organizational and logistical challenges. Key challenges included developing a detailed shot list and inspiration documents to ensure all products and desired scenes were captured efficiently, and maintaining a cohesive visual style across a large number of product shots and diverse settings. Shooting outdoors in winter also presented challenges with typical cold, wet Pacific Northwest weather conditions.

Creative Process

My client and I collaborated on a detailed spreadsheet tracking all products and required shots to maintain organization. I also developed inspiration documents with storyboarded shots to ensure a consistent on-brand aesthetic.

I styled kitchen counter scenes with a casual, "grab-and-go" feel, utilizing cutting boards as props to give the products a fresh, homemade vibe. I incorporated models in appropriate winter attire, such as raincoats and beanies, in the outdoor adventure shots to reflect the Pacific Northwest setting. To create variety across so many images, I shot in multiple locations, including the beach, a wooded area, and a playground setting.
